An idea for Fairy furniture.

While thinking up some new ideas i've decided i'd like to make or have a go at fairy furniture.
I'd like to make some table and chair sets but not sure what size they should be.
Today i've had a good look around to try and figure out the best size to make them or what scale most fairy houses tend to be.
If anyone can advise on the best scale all advice would be welcome.
I've noticed with many fairy house al scales apply and you can have a big house like a 1:12 with furniture to that scale, and then you see smaller scenes scattered here and there for even smaller fairies within the main house.

Some pictures.

I thought i'd show you a few of the sets going on ebay this evening.

But before i do i made a bit of a mistake last night when sorting my listingS and a few went on early this morning by mistake. I'd scheduled them as AM and they should have been PM. They sold straight away at the crack of dawn while i was snoring... lol

Anyway, heres a few more bits.

Potting Corner.

I'm working on the witches potting corner again and i've decided i'll put this on ebay once complete. Should be mid week.
I need to work on the roof tiles again because i'm not happy with them and then move onto finishing the mushroom trays, plants, bulbs, pumpkins etc. Will also try and squeeze a little bird house in somewhere.
I love the green from the tap drip best so far.

Ebay Listing - Potions and chicken legs...lol

Use your imagination on this one but i had to share with you. This is a chicken leg skin and i thought it would make a brilliant rug for a witch. What do you think?
I shall pop this on ebay Sunday.

On Sunday evening from 8pm onwards i'll be lisitng quite a few auction items. These will mostly be potions like what is showing here. Quite a lot of what's showing here will be kept for my witches cottage, but in amongst them there are fairy wings, feathers, gems, berries, petals, feathers, bones, and plant cuttings.
I'll also be listing some glass which are my own designs. I'll be doing these empty sets as buy it now and there should be around 10 sets of these mixed bottles and jars.
My ebay link can be found on my side bar under my photo.
Don't Forget my friend Debie Lyons Mad Marvin is currently on ebay and the auctions end
Sunday 8pm (UK time). Here's the link: Mad Marvin

For Judy - Fairy House by Penny Thompon.

Judy from Just Another Day on Earth is planning on making a house from natural materials.
I've shown this house before but thought i would show again for Judy. Its beautiful and has been made by Penny Thompson. Its been made with various natural materials too.
I've seen this house at a few shows and each time i love to make this my first call of the day. The last show i went to at kensington Penny had added more features and made little scenes for tiny fairies and little people in all the little nooks and crannies.
The pictures are not showing the new potions, and fairy scenes but hopefully she will update the site for us all to see.
Here is a link to Penny Thompsons Website http://www.penny-thomson.co.uk/index.htm
And here is a direct link to the page with this househttp://www.penny-thomson.co.uk/buildingsgal.htm
Heres a pictures of a beautiful scene also made by Penny. I thought Debie would like these.

Break from house!

Going to have a break from the house for a week or so and get on with some actual work.
Mind you, it's the school holidays so doubt i'll get much done.
Anyway here's the house which doesn't look like much has been done since the last post.
I've been rendering all the walls in prep for the painitng and making sure no joins are showing. It shouldn't be time consuming but i've spent several hours doing so.

Don't forget the witch!

Don't forget Debie Lyons Alice Greenthumb Witch ends in 18 hours on ebay.
She's a brilliant witch and comes with mandrakes, mushrooms, burdock root and pumpkins.

And check out this fab scene also made by Debie. Its just fantastic isn't it! Heres a link for a further nose: Piskies and Poppets

Here's the house a little further along. Where the roof tiles end i'll edge all the way round with wood. Its taking ages and i want it finished.

New floor, magic potions and mess!

I've given up on keeping house and cleaning, washing etc. It seems to be a battle i can't win.
So instead i'm devoting my time to smaller houses and those i can control rather than the chaos i find in the big world.
Last night i put a new floor onto the witches house. It looks awful at the moment i know but i can see it finished in my head and i know all will be ok.
I won't turn it round yet and show you the back because the bedroom has a sloping floor. I need to put in this floor (lol) much to my families laughs this morning when they saw it and thought the slope was intentional... lol. As if!
They also find it amusing the witch will not be able to waer her hat because its a rather short room, but they have no imagination so not too bothered on that.
Anyway, i made the new floor with whiteboard/foam board and covered it all with Mod roc (art roc) like i did for the lower floors. I now need to render the walls surfaces, which i'll do with paperclay smeared here and there. Not in the slightest technical i know but i like this look.
I'll also need to do the stonework on all four corner of the new floor, so looks like i'll be sitting bored to tears applying squares for a few hours. Then of course more squares with the roof tiles (yawning).
This will now be one of those turn it round houses rather than all openings being on one side only. Quite like a lot of fairy houses.
I've also be taken over with potion making and have about 40 different jars on the go all of which are the new and dirty jars. Some are filled with items such as amber, feathers, fairy wings, herbs and spices, gems, berries, preserved frogs and lizards.
I've also just made these colourful jars in multi-colours. I'm not sure if i should turn them into Jelly pots or make them into a magical potion?

My husband has at long last just popped out to buy me a new washing line. This is the most excitement i'll have had all week... lol. Can't wait to see it twirl... oh lol. Mind you, it is only Monday so i live in hope!

Lastly, my room since the major change and new desk, shelves etc has now started to grow again into a major tip. I know its not too bad at the moment but its growing daily.

Oh yes, i also had a catastrophe with some of my recent sales and just as i was checking the contents of each parcel was correct i noticed some of the jars had some sort of chemical reaction. So i've spent quite a lot of time earlier this week working and working on them until they went right and trying various new products. I'm now ready to post them, but sadly it's a bank holiday and no post. So tomorrow i can finally send them a week late. I hate sending parcel late but its taken me this long to get them perfect with all my trials and errors. At least they will turn up perfect and so glad i checked them last week.

New roof.

Back working on the house.
I've taken the paperclay tiles off that i started a few weeks ago and started to replace them with cardboard tiles.
I'm using the cardboard you get when you buy the strong boxes of glossy photo paper and it's about the same thickness as artists mount board so perfect for tiles.
The house has been sitting next to me as i work and i didnt want to carry on until i knew exactly what i wanted to make replacement tiles with.
Debie from Piskies and Poppets recently made a witches corner with cardboard roof tiles and i thought they looked wonderful, so had to have them for my house too.
Once the whole roof is done and the glue is dry i think i'll sand all the edges of the tiles and bash them about a bit so they look old, dirty and worn.

Can you see on the other side of the house where the roof just ends. Thats the bit i'm unsure about when i tile that roof. Where it just ends i dont know what to do with the last layer of tiles so the ending looks right.
If anyone has any suggestions i'd be happy to know. I should have planned the house better but at the time of building it just looked right.

Dirt!

I'm back again i know... lol. Can't help myself and it's good to show him through all the stages.
He's now been dirtied up with my eyeshadows and pastels, his hats crumpled and dirty and the bag has just the right amount of grime.
He's taller and thinner than the photo shows. I've taken several but each shortens him a little. Plus his eyes look like they are staring up, but in the real they look droopy as if he is in a day dream or tired.
No time left now to finish him today. I'll work on him again Monday.
I'll be thinking up a name for him too!

Wizard update!

I just so wanted to show you all the progress so far. Really pleased with him.

I still need to make all his clothes dirty, his hat needs soemthing on the brim where the joins show a little and he still needs his boots. Plus little touches of something (dont know yet) here and there. His hats needs to be crumpled up a bit too.

I don't think i'll take up making too many dolls. The ones i make i'll keep for myself.
You should see the sewing under it all, the body thats not brilliant and his lack of underwear isn't too great.

Wizard and his problems!

Here's the wizard again in an outfit i much prefer. He needs lots more added and under trousers, rips and tears, lots of dirt and the hat. Then his crystal necklace and boots. I'll put feathers in his hat and he will carry a bag full of things sticking out.
I've done the slightest amount of sewing here which is great because i can't hand sew. The picture isnt great but if i keep going i know i'll be happy with him.
I like the scruffy and old look and he will suit the witches house i'm making. He's going to be one of the witches visitors.
Thank you all also for having a laugh and commenting on my last post. I hated that robe. But if i made anyone laugh then at least i achieved something last night.

Laughing... oh lol!

This time i can't blame it all on the bad lighting. He actually lookS a lot worse than what's here.

Oh my god, what a horrible looking robe and nothing like i imagined. I can't sew to save my life!

Lol... i'm honestly really laughing.

I take my hat off to anyone that can dress dolls. I envy you all!

There are many things i can do and so enjoy doing, but i really hate sewing and making costumes. I love making my miniatures and really badly wanted to give dolls a go, but i dont enjoy the clothes making.

I loved the sculpting and plan to do more but as for sewing clothes i think i'll give up. Or i shall find another way that doesnt involve a needle.

So i'm off to strip him naked again and have a go at making him more scruffy and with draped materials. I can see the idea in my head but so not going near needles.

LOL.

Wizards and sewing!

Not got a lot done this week because my neck is sore again, and don't much feel like sitting at my desk for long periods of time.
So, I'm sitting sewing this evening and getting the wizard dressed.
He did start off with brown and gold toned materials, but sadly i made a mistake with the little bit of brown i had and so now he's going to be dressed in purple and gold.
The sparkle in the purple is not showing to well but i think it will be lovely.
Infact, this material is much nicer to sew than the brown so it can only be a bonus.
I'm hand sewing because my sewing machine is broken so he truly will be entirely hand made.
I will either return in flood of tears or happy and ready to show him off.
Wish me luck!

I will not have anything available on ebay for a short while. I did plan on listing a few auction items this weekend but because of my neck i shall spend the weekend resting.

Debie's Alice Greenthumb on ebay.

My friend Debie Lyons from Piskies and Poppets has put one of her art dolls on ebay this week.
The doll is called Alice Greenthumb (she is a witch by the way) and quite appropriately she has a lovely green thumb. Alice is a gardening witch and comes with burdock root, pumpkins, mushrooms and a mandrake pot and a little basket.
She is also totally hand sculpted and is a 1:12 doll.

Here she is:

And here she is again in the witchy scene Debie has created. Building not included.

And here's the cute madrake in his pot not looking too pleased with himself

Here is Debies blog link: piskies and poppets
Here's Debies website link: piskiesandpoppets.com

Here's the link to alice greenthumb on ebay: Alice on ebay

Here's a picture of the hands Debie made for me to go towards my sculpting.
They are so beautiful and the ones with the long nails will be used for a witch i have planned. She will live in one of my houses (when they are done).
I'm ever so proud to own them.

Wonderful dolls with a difference.

I was over at Jodi's blog and clicked on the Niada link on her side bar.
Immediately i was drawn to the lady in the chicken basket with the eggs. So i found the artists website and what more can i say other than fabulous.
Here is the website link akirastudios.com
Heres a few i found and what an imagination. I would so love to own a few of these.
I wish i knew how much they sold for because i'd like to start saving. I dare not even ask for fear i'll be running in the other direction. So if anyone dares to ask please let me know.

Also, check out Jain Squire's blog The Giddy Kipper. Heres the link: The Giddy Kipper
And here's a pic from the kensington show.

As requested by Debbie.

Debbie from Tiny Treasures and a few other people have asked what i bought at Kensington last Friday.
Well, before i go on and show you i'll waffle on a bit about people. I met some of my good friends there from Country Contrast called Bob and Doreen. Bob always make me laugh lots without fail. It was lovely to see them but they are always so busy and sadly don't get to natter as much as i'd like.
I also met Jain from Giddy Kipper Dolls. Talk about Giddy... lol. Such an appropriate name and i love giddy people. She's lovely and her dolls are to die for.
Jain did make me smile when she picked each doll up, kissed and cuddled them and put them back with a tender stroke. How nice is that and i almost had a tear.
Check out the site and be in for a treat.
Sadly i cannot copy and paste any pictures of Jains dolls because the site is protected from doing so. Jain will also be joining blogland shortly.
Julie Campbell from BellaBelle Dolls was helping out Jain with her sales and it was such a treat to meet two gems at the same time. She's a lovely lady and i also got to have a nose at the Old Woman That Lived In The Shoe through the glass showcase near the main doors.
Here's a picture of the shoe and all the cute naughty looking children. Its fantastic and a must see! I Know Julie has been working on this for quite some time and the comments i heard when viewing were wondeful. Just a shame she was downstairs unable to hear them. My Friends Kate and john have some of Julies Dolls and they're such proud owners too.

Julie also has a blog with links to you tube to lok at te shoe in more detail.
Here's the blog link: Bellabelle Dolls

Anyway, i didnt have a lot of cash to spend at the show and mostly went in search of nice silk and litle bits and bobs for my wizard.
This is what i bought for him and quite pleased because the silk has just a slight sparkle to it which was my main request for him.
He's still naked i know but once i've drawn up my design i'll get sewing. He has some other little bits like gems and stones not showing. I'll use the bottle Debie from Piskies and Poppets sent to me in his hands.

Along with material for the wizard i also bought lots of little things and mostly to use for my work.
I found some wonderful purple (my fave colour) eel skin and some gold/brown toned lizard skin. I just adore the line running down the length of the eel (only i could love that).
Plus if you have a close look i found some wonderful little frogs i plan to dot around the witch house and maybe pop one in a jar as a specimen.
There's also some fab frames with a lovely ornate detail. I plan to sculp a witch and wizard head in two of these with hair that's far too long and grew after their death (like you do).
Plus lots of little trowels and forks, flour scoops and spoons. A nice pewter tudor dining set, ribbons and strings, lace and some nice brown towelling material.

It was a lovely day and popped into Hotel Chocolate on the way home to buy a few gifts. Then before i knew it everyone gobbled them up so need to buy again.

Look what Jodi did to me!

Lol. Look what Jodi did to me. What a nice suprise this was and really pleased.
If you pop over to Jodi's blog page Creager Studios you can pick your favourite. I opted for picture number 5.
I'm not really a witch and just make my witchy mini's but having such a great picture to go with my work is going to be wonderful. I couldn't be more pleased.
Thank you Jodi for taking the time to witch me up and WOW! I now have Jodi Creager Art which i'll treasure.
Look at my new lovely slim waist. That's a double WOW from me!

New one added.
I think i now like this one best.

I'd also like to welcome a friend of mine called Susan. Susans blog is called The Ice Queen and she is new to blogging today. Pop over and say hi. Susan also loves witches, wizards and everything magical. Heres the link: The Ice Queen

Welcome!

Welcome Doors.

This image is taken from http://spiceitup.etsy.com Pop over to etsy and see the fab images this person has for sale. Loads of them would be ideal for jars, pictures, wallpaper and all sorts of spooky miniatures. They are sold as digital collage sheets, are eamiled to you for printing and can be used over and over again. I see a wall papering scene from quite a lot of these where the witch is decorating. You could make rolls of wallpaper and have some up on the wall, with some being pasted and other rolls waiting etc etc. Well thats my idea anyway. Been thinking this one up for quite some time.

I thought i should welcome all my new followers from the last few weeks. I apologise i'm not too polite welcoming each person. I know on lots of blogs each new person is welcomed with a little info and a link. Sadly i'm a bit dizzy, things slip my mind and before i know it weeks upon weeks have passed.
Anyway, i would like to thank everyone for joining and spending the time to visit me.
I appreciate all your comments and thoughts and the time spent doing so.

Nikki x
