I've not taken photos but she also sent me a parcel last week to help me out with my stall. Some of the items i bought but she also sent me other items i can use and lots of poly bags for my pick and mix. Not that the pick and mix is getting anywhere yet! Thank you Debbie!
So here is my new version so far of the second ever flying out cupboard... will start the third tomorrow.
This one is a lot slimmer and probably suited to a hall area. I didn't draw any plans and just went with what happened.
I really lack woodworking tools and have just one basic saw, a cutting mat and a ruler, but somehow manage with these. I don't even own a mini clamp!
Need to finish it tomorrow and then start to fill. I'd like to base this one around berries unlike the last one which was pumpkins, and use red tones mixed with green and golden browns.
For the last few days ive been working on lots of little minis i will show when i can take photos, but today decided i hated the dragon table and so have moved all the items to a new one. The new table needs new legs, lol. I snapped one that came with the table and so have to sort that tomorrow. Just imagine it with legs.
The amimal cupboard is also akmost complete. I find items like tables and cupboards can sit looking at me for weeks until i know what to to with them, but so far i'm pleased with it.

Ideas needed!
In my stash of minis i have about 12 mixing bowls. I'd like to fill them with ingredients like the witch is mixing something up in the kitchen or her potion room.
I spent ages last week sanding and refining some bulky wooden spoons i want to add, but as for ingredient my mind is a blank. Any ideas for what to fill them with would be great. Soetimes i get stuck.

Apologies if you have emailed me and i have not answered. It's the easter school holidays and im not getting much time to use the comp, its kind of a fight to use it.
I also have a terrible memory and can sign onto the comp to read and answer emails and then go off elsewhere, leave the comp and then remember when somebody else has claimed it as theirs.. I've had a few messages through etsy and apologise for not answering yet... its on my list!
Lucky you to have Debbie around to keep you on track! Don't know also why you apologize for late night photos? Isn't that the time all witches work?
ReplyDeleteYour tables look great though! And I have all sympathy with you for the lack of tools. I have the same problem, and I am always looking (but not finding!) for one of my rulers which means everything is usually measured with the eye... this is a GREAT way to make wobbly furniture.
I am so excited about your table at Kensington Nikki. I will be hot footing it there as quickly as possible. Everything looks so fabulous. Is it really only 4 weeks???!!!! Urgh!! Jain xx

ReplyDeleteNikki, making a cupboard without planning it first is something incredible for me!:) As for mixing bowls I was just thinking maybe some liquid or mixture with parts of ears or bones jutting out of this liquid?

Nikki, I totally believe that you will be ready for KDF. Believe in yourself, you are a very clever little Witch. The Dragon Table looks much better and the little Animal workbench is brilliant. Love how you've hung the bits and pieces down the sides.

I like the witches things you used to make Nikki with the crumbles and pies being made. I think your style suits the good witch so well, and they wouldnt neccesarily like to make things with fingers and eyeballs in, maybe just a normal pudding made of different mushrooms or berrier with an occasional unusual ingredient thrown in. Or like Debbie says, a pumpkin pie or berry or mushroom soup being made but have a magical twist by the spoon stiring the ingredients itself!
I think unusual ingredients and recipies work well if you were making a really messy overflowing table but I see your style as quite homely witch .But thats just my opinion! Kate xxx

ReplyDeleteI feel it's GREAT to make lots of what is both popular and maybe what's easier to create! :o) I love the dragon table and the animal cabinet, wonderful colours AND very busy looking too! Fantastic! :o)
I agree witchy/wizardly food should be a mixture of ghoulish and noramlish, they DO eat both I am sure! So you could make a normalish witchy stew, worm or leech broth, (I have a pumpkin soup table made by your goodself),pumpkin soup with fly croutons? lol Another stew full all things nasty, bits of fingers, eyes, etc, mouldy cheese on a plate or board, crows egg flan, mushroom pie (fly argaric). Perhaps some desserts? An assortment of berries in a bowl, demon eyeball pie (red eyes to emulate cherries?!) . I own a few of your jars of jams, preserves and honey’s (?), perhaps some more of these loose and some on a cooking board with a bowl (full of something!), spoon and/or knife etc and some other food items. I’d keep the food simple and quite humble. :o)

Hi Nikki, you're such a perfectionest, I don't have any ideas for your mixing bowls but I love witches food with mice or rats running over it, if this is any help. What you've done so far is brilliant as usual.

I think a frog leg, lizard tail, dead mans toe. then maybe for color to go with the green" a carrot or a purple bat wing. I'm not a real fan of eyes but maybe a bloodshot blue eye. Love your work and I know whatever you do will be great.
