Little Update - Witch House

Just a litle update for Debbie to see.
As you can see i'm using the paperclay still and making stone around the window and also on the corners of each wall. I should have all this done before i go to bed.
If you are unsure about paperclay then its easy to use and sticks well if you prime the base with pva. You can stipple with a brush to create a rough stone and make little notches here and there to add some age.
Back tomorrow with more updates.
Thank you all so far for all suggestions on what to fill the pond with. Keep them coming if you think of more.

  4. Nikki do you cut out individual stone shapes out of the paperclay and stick them on? Im such a dunce at knowing how to go about using this stuff. Have you covered the whol thing in paperclay and then added individual stones. Im hoping to make my bread oven in this so any advice welcome. Looking great by the way, your so speedy! Kate xx

  5. Hi Casey. You do make me laugh... lots... lol.
Hi Marlies. Glad you like it and can't wait to move onto the painting and interior.
Hi Kate and John. I made the house as in my earlier posting and covered with the art roc. Then i used paperclay and scarped this one here and there all over the house to make rough textured walls. Then i've rolled out some clay for the stones, cut to shape and applied to the house sticking each one with pva glue. Paperclay will stick to some surfaces without pva but its best to use it anyway.

  6. Thanks Nikki this will help ....when I get round to making the brick ovens!!Cant wait to see the next steps on the house. By the way ever considered making fairy things. Theres a fairy house on the new blog Debbie posted about and i can really see you making things like that. Still staying in the fantasy range of miniatures but abit more pretty than the witches items obviously. I can see you making some wicked fairy woodland style furniture and accesories, and maybe soon houses for faires...ooh do give it a go as a fairy house is next on my wish list he he!! Kate and John

  7. Oh is it ever looking good! Gosh yes, use the paperclay for the tiles! Muddy End's roof tiles are paperclay...it's just the most wonderful stuff isn't it? Let me see if I can find a link to any tutorials...otherwise I can describe....

  8. Thank you Cate and David. Glad you like it so far. I loved your muddy end and so making my own, but trying really hard not to copy. I have so many ideas for this and can't wait to move on to all the finer details. The tree will have a face with glass eyes and my friend is sending me some little alligators for the pond. I was also thinking i may do a few octopuse tentacles hanging out, but might keep that for the cauldron.
Any advice on the roof tiles is most welcome and any tutorials you know of would be great too.
Hi Kate and John. Glad i was of help to you both. I do think about making fairy miniatures but i'm always drawn back to the witch. Maybe fairies will be in the future, although i am not the greatest of fairy fans and love the strange and spooky mini's. I just find it fun!
