My Reason!

Just to let you finally know why i removed all my Haunted Tree postings recently. This was because i'm doing this as a project for one of the dolls house magazines. Not sure how these things work but will let you know in advance early summer which one it is.
It's now all complete, the photos and tutorial complete and looking wonderful. Can't wait to see it in print.
My biggest problem with such tasks is my lack of computer and photography skills. I've taken nice close ups of each stage and cropped so the reader can see clearly. I've spent hours typing and checking its all correct and when i finally finished and copied to disc i noticed a mistake, so back to the editing again. My other problem is the pictures need to be 300dpi and being me don't have a clue how to change. So I've taken the whole lot to a local shop and paid the man to do it for me. He's also checking out my camera because its still playing up. Hope its nothing major and a new one will be needed. Mind you, a new camera would be nice!

  4. CONGRATS! Nikki.... that's wonderful news! Please let us all know which magazine.
As for you camera...you probably have a high res setting on it... the man can show you...shoot as high as you can, makes for much better pictures.

    Congrats again

  6. Ooohhh congratulations...I wondered if that was what it was ;-)

Like Jodi said, you should be able to set your camera to high resolution. Look in your manual...that is easy to change.

And use a tripod or a stack of books and the self timer setting...it will help get much better pictures.

    Can't wait to hear more.

  7. Thanks everyone for your kind comments.
I will take your advice Jayne and Jodi. As for reading the book they tend to make me frustrated, but the man thats sorting my pictures will go through it all with me. There is nothing that bloke doesn't know.
When reading such books its all too much to take in and i tend to play with things and learn that way. Yet saying this i know i should read it and will hunt it out now ready for some intense bedtime reading.
I think i will take your advice and start using a timer with the camera set up on some books. I never thought of that (not the sharpest tool in the box).
Mind you don't know why I'm complaining because haven't sold much lately and people must be thinking I've vanished.
My eldest son Francis lectures me on resolution. He gets frustrated with me (like your do with mothers) and leaves me to my own devices. I just don't get such things as res, dpi, formats etc etc. Even the macro everyone is going on about leaves me baffled.
    Baffled Nikki... lol

  8. Nikki! What great news! Which magazine?

I am right there with you on the use of the camera. Point it at something and poke the button is my motto. Also Baffled Casey.
