Painting The Floor.

So far i have given the floor tile several coats of paint to try and build up the stone texture. Not totally happy with it yet and will try and bring it more to life later today.
I started off with a light grey using acrylic paint, then started building up darker shades of grey with raw umber (dark brown) and black mixed in. I kept adding a little bit of raw umber and black each time to take it a shade darker, and kept stippling with a medium to firm brush, and dabbing with baby wipes.
I started my light grey base off with white, buttermilk and black. I find adding buttermilk improves the colour and tones it down slightly, while also adding an aged look. Seems to warm the mix up a little too.
For the gaps i used the same mix but added a lot more brown and black. I just brushed it in and wiped of the the excess with baby wipes.
I have also done the same with the table and will post pictures tomorrow when complete.

  9. It's okay, I missed a post! Have now found out the medium used it‘s by DecoArt! I can't believe I've missed this on my trips to Hobby Craft! Seems like one of the best/easiest options that I have seen and I have lots of stone work to do too. :o))

  10. Hi Debbie. Not totally happy yet and will try adding blue as suggested by Andrea below.
I used blue on the potting corner and it worked well, so perhaps that is whats missing.
I see you give away is going well so far.

  13. Hi Michelle. I see you have gone back a few posts and found the medium. Have a look in the pro art section too and open all the tubs before deciding which you like best. I always do this much to hobbycrafts disgust, lol.

  14. Hi Kate and John. I thought you would like that link. You could make the name plates with tiny stamps or just score the letters into clay.
Cant get the table right so wont post about it until im happy.

  16. Hi Andrea. Thank you for reminding me about blue. I used blue for some other stonework and it brought the stone to life. Will have a dab here and there later and see what happens.
    Thank you.
