Make It Homemade This Christmas.

Before i show you the tutorials don't forget to visit Aim this month to read the free online dolls house nmagazine and also to have some daily fun opening the advent calendar.
Each day you get to see some fab tutorials from quite a few people you may already know.
Heres the calendar: http://www.artisansinminiature.com/photo_25.html

Here is a nice selection of online chritsmas decoration tutorials.
Just wish i had all the time in the world to make them, lol.

First off this cute little take on a yule log: http://www.marthastewart.com/photogallery/holiday-clip-art-crafts#slide_16&xsc=eml_crd_2009_12_08
So Pretty!

Lovely little tree for a place setting filled with sweets: http://www.marthastewart.com/article/giving-tree?backto=true&backtourl=/photogallery/holiday-clip-art-crafts#slide_1

Lovely cardboard tree. You can make this as big or as small as you like. Would look nice in the middle of the table.

This fab half eaten gingerbread man. http://www.elsiemarley.com/pattern-for-a-half-eaten-gingerbread-man.html

Found this fab alternative for a christmas tree. Again you could make in various sizes. No tutorial here but its pretty simple to make.
Wooden tree.

Lovely Angel you could make to your required size and a nice one for children.
This lady has used quite a few tools and die cuts but you could make the same just by using scissors. Would look nice with glitter on the dress part in swirly patterns.
Beautiful Angel.

There are lots of Christmas tutorails available online. Just type in Christmas decoration tutorial. Brings up Loads!

Heres a tree made from pie cones. I think its beautiful but could have some colour added here and there. Using little sprigs of leaves and berries pushed in between the cones would look wonderful.

Off to do several hours of ironing now... what fun!

  2. Aagghh, nooo .....Martha Stewart...!!! (hehehe)

Seriously, the mags do have the coolest pictures and ideas, as evidenced by the glitter houses I found and the pretty things you've posted. I, too, like the Gingerbread Man. He reminds me of a tree (one of several) my mother put up when my niece and nephew were little. She made dozens upon dozens of 3 dimensional felt ornaments, mostly storybook characters, to decorate it. I still have all those. Mmmm....I'll try to remember to use them all next year. Thanks Nikki!

  6. I love the gingerbread man too, he's fab and probably quite easy to make! I like the rustic tree too, but not the thing perhaps if you have children, methinks. ;o)

  9. Hi Rudoo. Really sweet those yule logs and perfect for teacher gifts.
If you just use the nest and bird and add a ribbon they would also make nice tree dec gifts.

  12. Hi Michelle. If you made two or three of the rustic trees and put them into each other you would end up with a more traditional shaped wooden tree. Plus it would stand up solid and be ok for kids. I really want to make one now.

  14. Love all of these! I LOVE the pine cone tree- think I will save that one for next year. I have a stupid blogging question- if you post pics like this do you have to ask each webmaster's permission or can you just post them as long as you post the link for credit to the creator? I would love to put things I've come across on the internet in my blog sometimes, but I am unsure how you are supposed to go about it and would not want to anger anyone.

  15. Hi Rosanna. Still not finished the ironing and have a few more hours of it left.
    Glad you like the tutorials.

  16. Hi Kim. I am unsure about your question myself, but i think as long as you put the source where you have found the image and make it clear it is not your work then you are only proomoting the original person.
I ask some people for permission, but more often than not people email me to thank me for the blog posts i do about them.
Quite often putting info here about other people even without their permission has helped their sales, so i see it can only do good.
A lot of online shops have trackers on their site to see where customers are coming from.
For mosts of my postings about online shops the owners have contacted me to say thank you and how it brought in loads of new people and sales.
I have another blog which im going to delete and then start afresh. I have not put links for everyones work there and now see it is wrong to not do this. Although i have stated at the top of the blog that it is not my own work.

  20. Hi Eva. Hope you find time to make some of them.
I have still not finished the ironing. It all built up when my iron broke and then the washing built up when the dryer wouldn't work. I am on my final load now and then just a tiny bit more ironing. Its boring i know, but feels wonderful to be almost at the end.

  21. Thank you for your reply Nikki- it is good to hear that people are pleased as long as you give credit and the link to their site. I think I will not be scared to share my finds now too! Hope you have a wonderful christmas!!!

  22. Are you still ironing, for over a day now?? you silly girl! ;-)) I always check the label inside the clothes before I buy them. If it says you have to iron it, I quickly move on XD

Thanks for bundeling these lovely links. Even if time is limited, they are still a great inspiration!! Tomorrow we will be setting up our own tree, and it's going to be filled with only homemade gifts and creations from years gone by. And adding the ones from this year ofcourse. pray for me that it doesn't fall over haha

  23. cool stuff! those yule logs are cute; would look neat in mini too. i thought that wooden tree looked like a mini scene (oh doesn't everything? haaaa)

  24. Hi Deborah. The ironing is not this bad normally, but my iron broke and tumble dryer refued to dry the clothes so i was very behind with it all. I normally make the tumble dryer do all the ironing but with drying everything on the radiators it all needed a press.

Hope your tree doesnt fall over, lol. Sounds very nice. I like handmade and have been making some decs for the tree, but ran out of time and had to buy a few too. I love the evening when it all glistens and feels peaceful.
Have fun putting up the tree!

  25. Hi Chris. I too thought they would all make nice minis and forget to say in the post. Especially the pine cone one if tiny little cones could be found.
Wish i had the time to make them all and make a really festive house. Only have a tree, lol.

  26. I love the birds on the log. So pretty! I made one of those pinecone trees years ago and I bring it out every year. It is wonderful to have a few handmade decorations around at this time of year, when everything seems to be getting so comecialized. Thanks for the links to so many new cute ideas!
