Wizard Staff.

Rough drawing of my glass order. These should be ready for me in roughly 3 weeks.
Can't wait and love the wavy lines on the jars at the bottom of the page. Plus hoping to make some mini gardens in the large dome shapes towards the top.
I have ordered others but can't find my sketches.

Made these today and quite pleased with the result. They just need a little bit more work and a touch more paint to blend the leaves in. Plus one of the glass balls needs a varnish.
Off now to make several sets of plates with faces on. Debbie very kindly sent me a lovely package with a variety of plates on Wednesday which are much appreciated. When and if i get them all complete i'll share them with you. Plus will make Debbie a set for her kindness. I'm also going to be making some pies with a magical twist and if all goes to plan some cheesecakes with a ghoulish theme to them too.
If anyone is wondering when i am ever going to get myself back in gear and start selling all that i've made over the last few weeks, then i'm not far off putting some on CDHM and my auction items on ebay. I'm trying to build up enough mini's so i'm not in a rush every friday and saturday ready to list on sunday evenings.
I'm trying to build up 3 weeks worth of mini's and keep this then going like clockwork. Well thats my plan, perhaps it will work,or perhaps not.
I'm also a little behind with some new much promised potion jars while i await my order.

  4. I was asked a few questions earlier about using scenic water by deluxe materials. This was my answer and could be helpful if you have found the product difficult to use.
On the instructions for this product it states to pop the pot in a bowl of hot water, but this is not always best, especially if you;re colouring the scenic. The makers suggest you use their colours for mixing into this but i've discovered you can use colour tint powders that cake decorators use. You can get them easily on ebay in any colour. Plus you can add white if you need creamy tones or the dark brown if you want to make your colours not so bright.
I don't use water at all to melt the product, but you can if you like. I take whatever i want from the pot and pop it in a ceramic glazed dish and stick in the microwave.
If for example you put some into a syringe make up your colour and let it set, then push into your syringe with the needle and cover on, then pop the syringe into a cup of hot water and it will melt. Then put the plunger in and away you go with filling. Ive got a massive syringe that i use for this. You can get them in fishing shops. Got hubs to get one for me.
Make sure you have the cover on the needle because otherwise it will suck up a little wate from the cup.
Sometimes when i use the ceramic dish i just go back and forwad to the microwave. I find for some things its better to have it as hot as you can get it so its much runnier and will fill things better. If its not runny runny then it starts to set a litle as you work.
You have to work quick though. I usually wait until mick is home and make him run back and forwards for me... lol. He does as well... lol
You can also put the pot in a bowl of boiling hot water straight from the kettle.
Also if your jar or whatever it is you're filling starts to go wrong and sets you can pop the jar in the microwave and make the liquid go to the bottom.
If you are putting bits in the jar say for example slices of beetroot it's b est to put some scenic in the empy jar About a third up, then youR beetroot, poke around with a cocktail stick to remove any bubble, then top up with more scenic and then more beetroot. I know that sounds a pain but it is quicker in the end and stops those bubble happening.
If say you get bubbles near the top of a jar put in more scenic until its is almost over flowing. This will bring the bubBleS to the top. Then i dip my cocktail stick in and wipe on the ceramic pot and dip again until it's the Right level in the jar. If you use a brush to dip you can get bubbles.
When you want to colour the scenic melt the amount you want and then make up to your colour, then reheat until fully melted and start filling your items.
WHEN USING THE MICROWAVE FOR THIS PRODUCT IT HEATS UP I SECONDS AND IS HOT HOT. BE CAREFUL WHEN TAKING OUT OF THE MICROWAVE AND PERHAPS PUT YOUR DISH ON A PLATE SO YOU CAN LIFT IT OUT EASILY. pLUS IF YOU HEAT TOO LONG THE BUBBLE RISE AND THE SCENIC OVER FLOWS.

  6. I fogot to say earlier about the scenic. It takes around 15-30 seconds with your microwave set at 750 to heat and melt roughly a heaped dessert spoon.
You can also put the entire pot as it comes in the microwave without the lid on - make sure you remove the lid. Keep your eye on it though because it heats up ever so quick and will boil over if you'r not careful. I would say the entire pot would take 30-60 seconds but of course keep your eyes open. It may take longer or perhaps a little less. I'm just going by my own microwave.
Also forgot to say earlier, if you heat in the microwave coloured scenic and keep doing this over and over, and heating too much eventually the colour will darken a little and almost burn. The best thing to do is be organised, work quick and have baby wipes at the ready for quick cleaning. Plus husbands that run back and forward for you are a bonus... lol

I reckon real jelly would be fine in jars. You know the stuff that comes undiluted in cubes. It doesnt go bad does it and if using for your own personal use would look fab as jam or jellies. You could pop some cubes in a pot and melt like above and then fill jars and whatever takes your fancy. Dont mic water in though first and use in its concentrated form.
    Just an idea!

  9. Oh those are splendid.

I, or should I say we, made a staff for Viola Williams the doll artist. She wanted a long branch type one that was on fire at the top...hence the we...Mick did the electronics :-)
