Fireplace for John

Yey... its done. Here's the firplace i've been making on and off for quite some time made especially for John. If you're wondering who John is then shortly he will have his own blog that i think his wife will also be involved with. So finally we shall get to see the house. I think they have two on the go and both will be based around wizards and with the Haryy Potter theme in mind. Hurry up John! Both Debbie and i can't wait to see.
My camera seems to have perked up somewhat and so the photos are getting better. Perhaps i'll finally stop moaning about the bad pictures.
Hint and tip on Cameras. Hide them from your children because they will for sure get it wet.
I've also started two witches sheds and if i get the time i'll glue it all together this evening. Imagine an outside loo, well thats kind of my idea but inplace of the loo i'll have shelves, lots of pumpkins, flying broom sticks and mushrooms in trays.

  2. Nikki, What can I say, THANKYOU so much, Kate and I love it, its fantastic. The cauldron is so original, cant wait to let the children see so they can think of a name for him! Now we will be arguing over which project this will go in as it will fit both my roombox or the new Harry Potter kitchen..hmmmm, who will win!Thankyou for all your hardwork Nikki!
Now the tree....you know we are after a Whomping Willow for outside the HP house!!!!!

  4. Are you John and Kate. Well if you want one i suppose i can have a go. Please be aware though (laughing)it wll go up and down on my ledge and probably take as long as this fireplace. Its why i hate commissions because of doing everything on a whim. I like freedom, but a whomping willow does sound liked my kind of thing to make. If you have pics of what its should look like it would help. Then i know what wire to buy.
So happy too that you both now have a blog. Its lovely to see you work.

  5. Oh a whomping willow sounds fun...whatever it is :-)

The fireplace is amazing...Kate and John are very lucky.

I have to say I just love the face on the cauldron...so much personality.

  6. I just love the fireplace, especially the cauldron!!

Had to laugh about kids and cameras....Keep them away from the baby powder and cameras, too. I once had a toddler coat everything in my room with baby powder, and my camera never worked right again! LOL!

  7. Katie. Must have looked like snow. When my eldest son was about 4 he got his crayons out and drew a massive train on the grey coloured carpet. He's the arty type and got to say it was a good drawing. It was 3ft wide and highly detailed ao not that easy to clean. I just left it in the end. Funny to look back on though.

Hi Tallulah (jayne). Glad you like the fireplace and cauldron. Enjoying watching your tutorial. I left a comment earlier but not sure if it saved or not. I'm finnding out for you if you could make a highly detailed pattern on polymer clay for the leaves from a clay tutor. When i find out which clay would give the best details i'll let you know.
I thought you could make it like a flat plate and do your paper pressing thing again with the heavy books.
