Kind of Steampunk books!

The books are not leather, cant tell you what because you never know where Witchy Wondercrap could be lurking, poking her nose where it doesn't belong and pinching her way around the mini world, selling them off as her OOAK creations and Witchy Wonders!

Sorry about that, just couldn't help myself!!!

Spent far too much time trying to make these, fiddling through drawers for missing supplies and trying upon trying to remember where i put all my cogs and gears and clock hands too. I'm sure ill find them if i have a tidy up! lol

I cant make the skull books look right and not happy with them yet, I'll try a few more things and see how they turn out. Maybe i just need to add some little charms or something.

  1. They look fantastic Nikki. I really like the filigree ones at the bottom. Beautiful. Don't forget those miniature findings I sent you,(the ones that look like straps)or have you used them all?. xxx

  2. Just saw these over on FB. They're really are super. And I know how you did it....but my lips are sealed! (Nanner, nanner wwc!)

I think the skull ones like fine but I know how you like to tweak. Maybe a dry brushing of somethingto show the dimension?

  3. These look amazing! I like how crisply the cover is folded and still looks like leather! They all look great, but my favorites are the filigree ones. That little bit of red does wonders!

  4. Thank you all! xxx

Debbie i cant find them anywhere, have looked for them while looking for the cogs, clock hands and all the other little bits i'd been saving. Debie (piskies)sent me some lovely clock hands some time ago and put them somewhere safe too.
Wish i knew where my safe place were, lol

  5. Nikki, why are you so hepped up about WW? I just went & looked at the stuff that she has for sale. It's a joke! Her heart prep board looks totally fake. Her pumpkins are phoney as well. The only people who are going to buy from her are also the ones who would buy cheap, badly made, out of scale toy furniture from the Dollar Store.
She obviously has no talent and no ability to want to create quality items AND the only people who would bother to buy her items are surely not the type that you want as customers.
Don't sweat the small stuff! There's always going to be copy cats.

  8. Love the skull ones. I am with Tabitha, maybe a little highlighting? Great work as usual!

  9. They're fantastic, but I agree, a little tip of dry-brushed paint would put a little more highlight to these wonderful skulls.

Have a nice week - oh, and I don't know if this can be some kind of comfort, but I too can't often remember my safe places... ;O)

  10. Both styles of books are bee-u-ti-ful! I have been hearing of the issues with WW - so I checked them out - ewwwwwww...nuff said. I don't know how you made the books with the skulls - I would love to know if you wanted to email me. The reason I ask is that I recently sculpted a face kinda stretching out of a mirror (painted silver). I am not done it yet as it needs a frame. I am wondering if any of your techniques would help me finish it so I can finally post it on my blog for all to see. I don't make anything like you do to sell, anything similar to yours is for my own personal collection - unless, when you see my mirror, you think I should sell it...anyway, I digress. I am interested to see if our techniques are similar. LOVE your work, I am learning lots from you for my own personal stuff - no WW behaviour coming from me!!

  11. You are just a set of total F**cking Bitch's if your stuff is so good then why let anyone else worry you (especially as you say their stuff is crap.) You say it doesn't worry you but it obviously does or you wouldn't keep harping on about it. As has been said before kettle calling the pot black again.

  13. Mmmmm.....I it is strange how Anonymous always pops up at times like this. Why be Anonymous?

Anyway Nikki, enough of her. Everyone is right - class will always be copied and be pleased to be at the Chanel end of the market of miniatures rather than Primark.

  14. As if i would give you my name, i am a customer of this ladys and do not want to have you start a hate campaign against me just because i like her miniatures.

    ReplyDelete
  15. In a way you are doing her a favour, giving her so much advertising, some people will and have read your posts on here, taken a look at her miniatures and gone ahead and bought them, and as you say her feedback states different to your opinions.

  16. Nikki, the books are great! Love the skulls and little filigree!

  17. As psosted to your nasty comment elsewhere annonymous.

Nobody is worried about what you make WW and your copying as such. Its more your attitude and the fact you dont care we find hard to understand.
Normally in life when a person is found out they stop their antics out of shame or the knowledge they must be in the wrong, especially when told and asked to do so by many and on numerous ocassions.
To call us sad fecks is only what i would expect of you. It clearly shows you have a lack of indepth thinking and reasoning in that head of yours. We're not sad, but more concerned for each other and in our own way looking out for each other. But dont think thats because we fear your work or sale... we dont. Mostly we cringe and worry somehow, probably unlikely worrying your work could be mistaken for any of our work by somebody new to miniatures and not aware there are lying cheats out there.

  18. And another thing, never think or come to the conclusion we think we are great, our work is great, we shine etc. None of us think like that. We are al learning, we all help each other, we all promote each other, we are all there for each other when needed..... But on a daily basis alone we strive to improve, improve, improve, and find ways in out daily work to feel pride and a real sense of achievement in all we do, mostly through practise, lots of mistakes and lots of wasted effort. After all that is done in private and alone we share with each other and are happy with out results, knowing full well we own those results, they belong to use, they may be OOAK, they may be not, but they are ours and ours alone.... not yours!

  20. So sorry to drag you into this NIkki, the fact that she has left comments on your blog when you have not mentioned it here just shows that she is very well aware that her 'stuff' is copies of your original work too.

A message to anonymous.. it is ME complaining about YOU copying MY work.. not Nikki, so stop acting like a naughty child caught out in the playground and leave Nikki out of this.

  23. Hi Nikki! Your books are amazing! I'm new to miniatures and tried making some, but I think my scale was way off. =( It was starting to frustrate me so I gave up in the hopes of finding a tutorial that would guide me in the right direction as to scale, no luck so far. Anyway, I LOVE your work. I hate that I always miss your things on Etsy. =( The pumpkins with the faces and burlap caps give me the giggles every time I see them. I find them to be sooooo adorable. =D

  25. Hi Nikki,
Though I would pop by and see what's new here, all our chats seem to be on FB, the books look wonderful, let me know if I can put an envelope in the post with some watch parts for you.
I saw you mention you had written down about the skull book process, I have made one so far for my house and when the time permits plan on attempting a few more for it, would you mind emailing me your info so I might improve on mine. I know I don't need to say this but I will, you know this as with all the fun things you have send me are as allways for my projects I keep in my collection.
The muffins look like they were to die for, I must say I would not have a clue how to convert your recipe.

Try not to let the ugly people get to you, it's not worth it. I know how hard you work and it shows in everthing you make.

    Love you my friend, L

  27. Good grief! (I go out for an afternoon and all hell breaks loose again!) The 2nd rate knock-off Queen strikes again!

Nikki, sometimes I think she just does this for sport. What a nasty little bit of work.

  28. BTW, Nikki. Do you know that you can block Anonymous people from posting on your blog? You don't have to allow them to come on here and cause stress.

    ReplyDelete
  29. such a shame that 'anonymous' has had to use such foul language and attitude in public, it really does her no favours! in the end the customers decide and set a price they are prepared to pay for such items, this would explain why she is only able to acheive the bargain basement prices and customers that she does, and why you and many other artisans acheive the audiences that you do. I doubt this sad individual will ever get out of the gutter that she has happily glued herself into!

  30. Im not stressed so dont mind abuse. Have heard much worse in real life but never on a blog, but it doesnt bother me and just makes me laugh really.
Its hard to explain why somebody that doesnt make me feel threatened or worried can still get on my nerves just because of the way they are and how they ignore requests from various people. More curious if anything how and why its so easy to ignore and also hoping in some way she stops copying people that are my friends, customers, fellow bloggers etc... just baffles me.
Thank you all for your kind thoughts and i know julia is appreciative of this too.

  31. In some cases i am not even talking about large items i or others have spent days on. Some are small and not expensive compared to larger items, but its why so many, so often and so many ignored requests... just dont get it.

  34. Beautiful work Nikki!! I agree with Tabitha- I have seen this happen many a time to many different gifted artists-such a shame!! I really think it is a game to her in a way and she is delighted when all of the fuss is made over her. I realize the hurt, anger and disappointment when a personal idea is blatantly copied and most times sold for less- and the frustration that her attitude is "so what" but it's a shame we even have to acknowledge her antics because I think they are fuel for her fire. Of course, I don't sell so totally have no right to say that as it is not my creative ideas being ripped off and if I were in the artist shoes I would probably be saying something completely different. I know I shall never purchase or support her because I feel like her reaction to all of this has been nothing but ugly- even in the beginning when people tried to hold out an olive branch to her. Nothing has seemed to make a difference. That is the sad part.

  35. I just love the books Nikki the skull ones are superb! Thanks so much for all your book advice and for emailing me so many wonderful tips. All for my eyes only woohoo!! Why does Anon even read your blog and others if she dislikes everyone so much.....oh yes of course to poach others tips and ideas! Such a shame you have to take your precious time to email us all seperatly now instead of being able to post all your tutorials on your blog but needs must when vultures are about! xxx Love Kate xxx

  36. Holy mac-anolia! Nikki, after I posted the first time here, I had no idea until just now that all this happened. The rotten comments are only words and can be easily shaken off, but what can't be returned to you is the time it took out of your day to deal with it - when you could have been doing what you enjoy and are obviously talented at. Should the "anonymous" filter not deter these time stealers - ignore them, as should all your loyal followers. As I tell my daugher: "Sometimes other children will say mean stuff, just to see what kind of reaction they can get out of you." Nuff from me as I should be working my fingers off for my upcoming local craft sale!

  37. Hi Nikki, found you on Facebook and love all of your work. You books are fantastic. Thanks for inspiring me too. There are so many wonderful artists out there who do. I haven't tried books yet, collecting supplies, and I almost bought a mini cottage on sale but had to reign myself in. One day.
