Susan over at http://tabithacorsica.blogspot.com/ has just completed a totally magical chair inspired by Merlin's throne. I think Susan is going to be using this for her Alice project (still to be revealed). Make sure you go over and have a look, it's absolutely brilliant and i love it loads. Susan is also making another and can't wit to see it too.

Last week i made the table top book stand. While making it was saying to me turn me into a cage, yet i ignored that and carried on with the book stand.
Here's the book stand incase you are not sure what i'm on about.

When complete all i could see was a chair and so after seeing Susan's beautiful chair decided to make one too.
Still loads of wiring to do but thought i'd share.

Giving this chair some kind of theme would be brilliant, but as yet i can't think of much. Its kind of saying woodland witch, berries and autumn leaves at the moment but not got a clue how to bring this to life. I also thought about making it a ghostly tree chair, haunted and able to glow in the dark but don't have enough of the paint after using most on the brooms.
It looks quite big but i want the branches to go over and enclose around the doll that will eventually sit in it. I'll use the wizard i made to show you when its complete.
So far its taken me just over 5 hours to wire up. I reckon there's an hour or more wiring left to do.

  1. OMG you work so so quickly Nikki!! this is going to be incredible. love both your ideas so youll have to make 2 different ones lol!!
I havnt a clue how to wire things for branches etc, would love to have a go but it scares me just looking atr it, looks so fiddly! ....and sharp lol

  2. It's not too bad on your hands Kate. Dont use wire from florists. Use wire thats designed for making jewellery and it will be fine on your hands. Its a bit more expensive but much much nice to work with.
I use wire from the florsit for the base but nothing else.

  5. Ooh yes and owl/blackbird stands too, lol. Debbie gave me that idea (think she is after one, lol).
I cant make feathered birds but really want a black crow/raven to use for displays like this.

  7. WOW I'm impressed! that looks very fiddly! I'd love to try something like this but just dont have the patience, and even using the correct wire I know Id end up stabbing myself LOL
The chair has a wonderful shape and I can imagine it in a witches boudoir adorned with hats, scarves, bags and bits of bling hanging off it. You could also make it into a lavatory!!! all the branches full of leaves, providing the necessary privacy with loo rolls hanging off the close branches ;o) LOL I'd happily make a little pixie elf thing for it with its stripey trousers round its ankles looking very embarrassed at being caught hahaha.... methinks fantasyland has a firm grip on me today !!!!

  8. Wow, Wendie! What an imagination! My own has vanished and think i'll be heading your way when it does in future.
Ooh, a loo, thats great, can i borrow that idea for when i get more wire? Love, love love it! Its a fab idea!
I remember you helped me with Bertram and he couldnt have been more suited to mandrakes.
I'm going to have a play around and see if your boudoir idea works. If not for this one then maybe the next i can make a stronger branch for a hat.

  9. Hi Nikki you must have the patience of a Saint! These look amazing. I was going to suggest something similar to Wendiesminiworld - in the bedroom with clothes 'flung' over (similar to what my hubby does!) Love the toilet idea!!

  10. Oh this is beautiful! I love the branches! Immidiately I though of Cathedral by Tomasz Baginski - the idea of chair being a part of a creature/human that's what I thought when I saw your fantastic chair! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OWJAof-O5Pc

  11. Gosh Nikki you and Tabitha have certainly moved the use of wire forward. Absolutely gorgeous work.
I would definitely like cages and animal stands for my next project so I am really excited by your talking about these.

  13. Nikki leave this one the shape it is, it reminds me of a hand. Go with the flow and let it decide its shape.

Susans chair is wonderful, I am really excited about that project.
